The Theses take square aim at a conservative swing in the historical disciplines that has seen it shore up its methodology and disciplinary structures against critical reform. History as a disciplined is far poorer than any other human science as a result in its articulation of its motivations, basic assumptions, and methodological justifications.
It’s an exciting move by Kleinberg, Scott, and Wilder – I’ll post some discussion of the Theses in coming weeks.
